Title 1 and RTI
Title 1 is a federally funded program that provides extra help to students who struggle at school. Sometimes Title 1 teachers help in the classroom, but at Isom, we often pull the student out for 20-30 minutes of small group reading writing. This extra support helps students fill in any holes or gaps they may have. A student may be in a group for a short time (just 9 weeks), for the whole year, or somewhere in between. Groups might change during that time based on the needs of the students. The process of helping students who may be in danger of falling behind is also known as Response To Intervention or RTI. Title 1 (or RTI) services are based on assessment data (see Response to Intervention tab for more information). Students are regularly assess to monitor their progress and build lessons based on their needs and strengths. For more information check out the links below.
